➡️ Watch my video here: In an effort to reduce body fat, restricting foods or calories, we find ourselves feeling like we "fell off, "and it's just too hard to stick to the diet. Then comes self-condemnation and blame, leading to a food binge of the food that was forbidden. I know I've been there. That sense of deprivation is just too much to handle.
It's important to take a step back and see what emotions are attached to feeling deprived (i.e., need more affection, connection, and a sense of belonging), and do we even know how to deal with deprivation?
Why diets fail:
✔️ They don't address the emotional aspect/ psychological aspects of eating.
✔️ They are all-or-nothing mentally, with very little or no grace. Oftentimes, we don't know how to handle the feeling of deprivation. When the feelings come, we can deal with them in one of two ways: ignore them, distract ourselves(binge eating), or cope with them through verbal expressions, such as journaling, talking with a friend, a support group, or God.
👉🏼 By acknowledging and validating what is going on, you can comfort yourself. Binge eating is a way to cope with difficult emotions, such as feeling deprived, alone, or emotionally empty. When we find healthy ways to cope with our emotions, we can become the healthiest version of ourselves and fulfill our body and soul's needs.
